Our vision

We are committed to a just, sustainable and inclusive Nigeria where all people, especially children and young people, regardless of their social background or physical impairment, have equal access to education, training, health care and economic opportunities. We believe in a society that empowers communities, promotes equal opportunities and enables everyone to develop their talents, live independently and actively contribute to the sustainable development of their community.

Our mission

The Association Amokwe Nigeria Association empowers people in Nigeria – especially children and young people in the Amokwe region – to shape their future in a self-determined and sustainable way. Together with our local partner organisation, we develop and promote inclusive educational and social projects that improve access to education, vocational training, health care and economic prospects.

Our work is based on the principles of self-help, partnership and local responsibility. We create sustainable structures, empower communities and promote equal opportunities, inclusion and social justice so that people can develop their potential and actively contribute to the development of their society.

In concrete terms, this means:

The Amokwe Nigeria Association promotes sustainable development projects in Nigeria with a particular focus on the Amokwe region in the Udi Municipality in Enugu State. Together with «Chibugwu Amokwe Nigeria Foundation (CANF)»., our local partner organization based in Enugu, we are committed to improving people’s living conditions in the long term and to providing help for self-help.

Our work focuses on promoting education, vocational training, health care and social participation. With the establishment and long-term support of an inclusive training centre, we create perspectives for children and young people – with and without disabilities – and strengthen their abilities for a self-determined life.

We work in partnership with local communities, authorities, church and educational institutions and volunteers. In doing so, we promote ownership, equal opportunities, inclusion and sustainable development so that people can develop their potential and actively contribute to the positive development of their community.

Mission statement and basic principles of the association and the Chibugwu Foundation

The work of Amokwe Nigeria Association Nigeria and the Chibugwu Amokwe Foundation is based on a Christian image of man. It shapes our understanding of dignity, justice, solidarity and responsibility and forms the basis of our actions.

We are convinced that every person – regardless of origin, gender, religion, social background, physical or mental abilities and personal history – has an inalienable dignity. This dignity is inviolable and establishes the right of every human being to respect, equal opportunities, freedom and social participation. For us, this conviction is rooted in the Christian faith that every human being is God’s creature and image.

We understand education as the key to a self-determined life and the sustainable development of communities. That is why we are particularly committed to children and young people and create opportunities for learning and development that strengthen their abilities, promote their personality and open up prospects for the future.

We advocate for an inclusive society where people with and without disabilities can learn, live and work together. People with special needs are not marginalised, but equal members of the community. They have the same right to quality education, individual support and the opportunity to develop their talents and actively shape their community.

Our work follows the principle of help for self-help. We do not create dependencies, but strengthen personal responsibility, competences and local structures. Together with our local partners, we develop sustainable solutions that have a long-term effect and are supported by the people themselves.

We act in a spirit of partnership, transparency and responsibility. In doing so, we treat all people with respect, promote mutual trust and work together for a future characterized by justice, solidarity, peace and sustainable development.
